The European Network of the Heads of European Environmental Protection Agencies (EPA Network)
The Network of the Heads of European Environmental Protection Agencies (EPA Network) is an informal network of Europe’s environmental protection agencies. Since establishing the network in 2003, it has grown to include environmental agencies and similar organizations from 38 countries, including the European Environment Agency, which serves as its secretariat. The diversity of its member organizations in terms of role, mandate, and national contexts allows us to explore different approaches to the issues of common concern. SEA is a member of the EPA Network for Slovakia.
EPA Network meets bi-annually at plenary sessions, which are also attended by representatives of SEA. Outside of plenary sessions, member organizations cooperate in interest groups and organize events. The EPA network currently has nine interest groups focused on specialized topics. The structure of the EPA Network and its working groups is voluntary, informal, and flexible. The exchange of experience at a strategic level improves and strengthens the work of environmental protection agencies.
