Information related to the European Union

In relation to the EU, the Slovak Environment Agency (SEA) provides activities connected with the fulfillment of reporting obligations (i.e. reporting to the European Commission) of the Slovak Republic resulting from EU legislation related to environmental issues. Several departmental organizations of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, as well as non-departmental organizations, participate in the processing of reports according to their professional competence. 

In this context SEA:

  • performs and regularly updates analyzes of EU legislation related to environmental issues from the point of view of reporting requirements. These analyzes are performed for legislation that: 
  • are listed on the EU legislation portal (EUR-Lex) in chapter 15.10 Environment, and 
  • fall under the supervision of the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic, 
  • processes reports (issues of environmental damage, SEVESO, accidents, IPKZ, air, etc.) or cooperates and communicates with other responsible investigative organizations when processing reports (issues of air, water, waste, adaptation to climate change, etc.),
  • ensures the submission of reports to the European Commission (EC) through the official channel through the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU, for selected reports it ensures the submission of EC reports electronically via Reportnet2 and Reportnet3 via the eDAMIS - web portal to the Data Center on Waste in the Eurostat administration, 
  • ensures the archiving of reports on the implementation of EU legislation related to environmental issues in the Slovak Republic, submitted by the Slovak Republic to the EC, and the archiving of relevant documentation. 
  • SEA also ensures communication, performance of tasks and provision of data in relation to the European Environmental Agency (EEA), which is one of the agencies of the European Union. More information about the activities of SAŽP in relation to the EEA is available on the website.

Lists of relevant legal regulations, reporting requirements and reports submitted by the Slovak Republic to the European Commission in the area of the Environment are listed in the annexes. The reports submitted to the European Commission or links to these reports are also available through the online Information portal Enviroportal.
